Multifidelity Computer Model Emulation with High-Dimensional Output: An Application to Storm Surge

چکیده
Abstract Hurricane-driven storm surge is one of the most deadly and costly natural disasters, making precise quantification hazard great importance. Surge often performed through physics-based computer models surges. Such can be implemented with a wide range fidelity levels, computational burdens varying by several orders magnitude due to nature system. The threat posed makes greater highly desirable, however, such their high-volume output tend come at cost, which make detailed study coastal flood hazards prohibitive. These needs development an emulator combining high-dimensional from multiple complex different levels important. We propose parallel partial autoregressive cokriging model predict accurate surges in computationally efficient way over large spatial domain. This has capability predicting as accurately high-fidelity given any characteristics

Computer Model Calibration using High Dimensional Output
This work focuses on combining observations from field experiments with detailed computer simulations of a physical process to carry out statistical inference. Of particular interest here is determining uncertainty in resulting predictions. This typically involves calibration of parameters in the computer simulator as well as accounting for inadequate physics in the simulator. We consider appli...
متن کاملA CYCLONE INDUCED STORM SURGE FORECASTING MODEL FOR THE COAST OF BANGLADESH WITH APPLICATION TO THE CYCLONE `SIDR'
The coast of Bangladesh has a specialty in terms of high bending and many off- shore islands. Incorporation of the coastline and island boundaries properly in the numerical scheme is essential for accurate estimation of water levels due to surge. For that purpose a numerical scheme consisting of very fine mesh is required along the coastal belt, whereas this is unnecessary away from the coast. In...
متن کاملApplication of a One-Dimensional Computer Model to Flood Routing in Narrow Rivers
This paper deals with the development of a computer model for flood routing in narrow rivers. Equations describing the propagation of a flood wave in a channel-flood plain system are presented and solved using an implicit finite difference scheme. Particular emphasis has been given to the treatment of the friction term in the governing equation of motion.
متن کاملMultivariate emulation of computer simulators: model selection and diagnostics with application to a humanitarian relief model
We present a common framework for Bayesian emulation methodologies for multivariate output simulators, or computer models, that employ either parametric linear models or non-parametric Gaussian processes. Novel diagnostics suitable for multivariate covariance separable emulators are developed and techniques to improve the adequacy of an emulator are discussed and implemented. A variety of emula...
